Beware! Nakey bum! The other day Slade saw the sprinklers go on in the backyard and ripped off his clothes faster than I have ever seen and ran outside!
I'm sure it was pretty cold water.
At her two week appointment, her doctor told me that her bellybutton was herniated and had me feel it because at that point it looked like a regular one. Since then, it has gotten huge and I started getting worried. I called her doctor to see if he needed to check it out because it was so big, but because it is not hurting her and I am able to push it back in (although it pops right back out) he said he would check it out at her two month appointment. Since that conversation, it has gotten a little bigger and I have gotten more worried. Skylar did some research online and found this : http://www.drgreene.com/21_1215.html
It is actually called a Umbilical Hernia and should go away by itself. It is caused when the hole from where the umbilical cord was attached to the intestines does not close all the way. The only concern is if food gets stuck in there (gross!). The first thing that came to my mind after I found out it could take up until the age of 5 for it to go away was, what about when she wears swimsuits? Poor thing! I hope it goes away sooner than later. The doctor did talk about "doing something about it" at age 6 months or 1 year. I'll learn more at her two month appoinment but for now I can relax. Do any of you have any experience with this type of thing? I'd like to know. Other than her bellybutton looking anything but that, Maylee is doing great! She has started to lock eyes and smile. She does pretty good at tummy time and can hold her head up fairly well for a period of time. She is such a good baby and the kids still love her as well.

Daisy still isn't lovin the water, huh? I sure am ready for swim season! I love the swimsuits Marlee gave the girls. Too cute!
FReAkY! I'm hoping it's just the camera angles~ that belly button is huge!
Daisy looks darling in her swim suit!
Slade continues to CRACK me up! he-he
Kari, Hannah was also born with an U.H. It was as big as Maylee's if not bigger, about the size of a walnut. It is almost gone completely now, and she is almost 4 months. Yay. I was always so self conscious for her at church and stuff (when I would change her diaper) and people asked about it a couple of times. It now looks like a baggy outie b.b. and only once in a while do I hear that squishy sound when she strains and it pokes out. :)
Oh, and I was under the impression that it's intestines that are poking through, not stomach material. I think their stomachs are higher than that. I could be wrong though!
Alisa, I meant intestines, heehee! Thanks! Good to know someone else has it!
Brexton actually had the same thing happen to him! They tried to tell me the same thing about being 5 but I pushed and pushed and finally when he was 2 and it had not gone down at all I begged Dr Carroll and he let me go see the pediatric surg. That dr tried to tell me to wait until 5 too but I was persistent and was able to make him do it and clip his tongue tie at he same time. They don't like to do surgery on little ones because they don't know what kind of an effect the anesthesia will have. My little nephew stopped breathing while being put under. He is fine now.Brexton came out screaming but he was ok. There was this little girl not even 1 that had an elephant truck lookin one. Sorry about the super long comment. Maylee is fatening up quite nicely!
Ya my sister Tessa had one and it looked like a guys thing:) haha sorry dont want to say it. It was longer and bigger then Maylee's. it eventually went down and she now has a cute belly button. I have heard it has run in the Kivett family. I guess Brittanie's was like Maylee's as well and her little girls was too. They have all gone down. Luckily she is little and even if it takes till 5 she wont remember it:) At least it wont be till like their teen yrs. anyways sorry this is so long. But I hope it goes away soon. She is still flipping cute:)
Stratton had that & it went away by 4 months old. People used to look at us so funny when I changed his diaper in public! His belly button looked fine as soon as it went down, you'd never know he ever had it. Good luck!
